Because you're fundamentally a masochist, that's why.
I read about 10% of that comment thread. After a while it was like watching a tennis match between two competent but completely unimaginative players...pock, pock, pock, pock, ad infinitum. How you guys can engage somebody you know is never, ever going to change his mind on any important point is beyond me. I'd have long-since jammed my racquet up his nose and gone in search of some nice hot soup.
Fight the battles you can win for the minds that are open.
"Fight the battles you can win for the minds that are open."
That is precisely what we are doing.
We fight for the minds who read this without commenting, not for the resident fool who cannot be reached. The former are worth fighting for, but the latter is beyond help. The bottom line is, as he has been told many times, he will not win by default.
"As far as the rest goes, I don't understand how I'm being smarmy. I was told quite clearly that there are rules regarding making claims and backing them up. If those rules aren't in play anymore, no problem. People get busy and it's really tough to spend a lot of time doing this stuff. And, really, I'm not being a jerk about the poverty thing. If you are genuinely interested in looking into causes and offering possible solutions, that's great. I remember awhile back you talked about volunteering to work in hurricane preparedness so this would be a similar thing, no?"

If you are really interested in finding the causes and possible solutions, which are very cool. I remember a while ago we spoke of volunteer work on hurricane preparedness so that it will be something like that, right?"
Um.......I can't believe I read the whole thing. I think I broke my brain.
I've never read any of Marky's postings.
I do NOT have a degree in economics, politics, or of any sort.
I understood everything that was being told TO Marky.
I could also see what he was doing.
I'm so frustrated that I did not find the thread earlier, because I SO WANTED to just put him to rights. (yes, I know. Futile. But it would have felt so good.)
I am in AWE of the patience of everyone that has had to deal with him.
And you said that THIS was him on "good behaviour?"
wow.

The density of the cretin you're trying to educate is seemingly bottomless - if density had a bottom.
Density has no upper limit. Witness black holes (if you'll pardon the double pun).
"... he's just too perfect an example of what we're fighting against..."
And he's proud of it.
Density indeed.
Color us unique. Lots of blogs have "star posters"... how many have a neutron star?
;)

So, Marxifelgia is like a Socratic device for the rest of us. I thought so since the rest of him is so immaterial.
I tried very hard to follow that thread. I couldn't take it after maybe reading 30%. Maybe I am just dim.
Go to Google Translate. Translate that page from English to Spanish, and then Spanish to Russian, then Russian to French, then French to English.
If you do that, does Marxy make sense or does your head just immediately explode (so as to save the trouble of reading through his posts)?
It doesn't make him make sense, it just makes his speech patterns sound like Yoda.
I disagree, Grumpy.
I started with this:

Golly, but now it sense ever so much makes more!
It's not working for me. I got, "All your brain are belong to us."
;)
Forget the thread, WHERE CAN I BUY ONE OF THOSE FLAGS!!!???
(Even a T-shirt would be nice.)

Kent gave me the rights to make patches. They are available.

I feel dumber for reading markadelphia's post and failed straw-man arguments!
I like the flag. I believe a better caption would be "We Warned You".
As for the thread, I'm not enough of a masochist to wade through it.
I think I'd have gone with "You were warned".
Or you could do the Yoda version:
"Warned You Were" 8-)
Something like this: http://i56.tinypic.com/2q1ct4h.png
…and now it looks like it's roaring on towards 600 with bells on.
I usually search for "today" to try to make sure to catch current threads. It's amazing how many times that word is used in various comments!
