The dustup between Michael Yon and the milblogs saddens me to no end. It's useless sniping at people who are supposed to be on the same side. Michael Yon's reportage from Iraq was *priceless* during a time when the mainstream media was too busy forcing the "It's a quagmire!" storyline off on us, and the mil blogs are irreplaceable when it comes to supporting the troops at home.
This is the worst kind of battle, a battle for no reason over nothing at all.
I read that article by the good Major and saw the pictures, for him to go through all thats happened to him and still want to go back reads to me volumes of his worth to our nation, and also his worth to the soldiers in the field who will reap his knowledge about staying alive. I have known many like him.
I gave up on Micheal Yon after the whole "90% of guns in Mexico come from the US" BS hit, he bought it hook, line and sinker, and berated and belittled the people who tried to correct him rather than listening to and critically evaluating what they had to say.
Not a recipe for good reportage and I've completely disregarded him since. I'd almost forgotten about him until you reminded me.
Something like this doesn't surprise me. Micheal's minor fame seems to have gone to his head and he doesn't deal well with criticism...or even being asked to re-evaluate something.

don't***
Neither are requirements. You READ gun blogs, that's enough. And if you come to the range with us, we'll let you shoot OUR guns! :-D

Not the kind of person I put a lot of stock in.
Sailorcurt is my mirror.
