Torchwood?!?!? Too much kissing, too little sci-fi.

Bah, Watching the first two episodes of Torchwood was painful. They make a UN group look professional and effective. They should have had Someone like Mike Yates and UNIT. Not Melrose Place in London.

Hell, John, Carol and Kenny would have been more effective, even with their non-killing methods.

"Not Melrose Place in London. "

Cardiff.  The show is set in Wales.  Also Torchwood is not a UN group, when they were created they reported directly to the British Crown.

"Update: Holy sh!t."

Just finished Children of Earth or was that the conclusion to the second series?

Children of Earth.

And yes, Torchwood was started during the reign of Queen Victoria, according to one screenshot from Day 1.

Then how did the UNIT chaps end up being so much more effective and efficient at actually defending the UK from the rubber suited hordes from space with the assistance of the Doctor and Jo Grant?

I didn't say Torchwood was UN, I said they were about as organized and effective AS a UN Group. UNiT on the other had was British Army nominally reporting to some UN organ in the 60s. The Brigadier actually knew what was up part of the time and you didn't have RSM Benton trying to bugger Capt Yates after shooting the Brigadier in a quarrel.

Torchwood: Gayest Doctor Who ever.

..Not that there's much of anything wrong with that.

Children of Earth - excellent.  The other Torchwood episodes I tried to watch? Meh...

Yeah...  the world pretty much ended as I plowed my way through the "three" seasons (I hardly count Children of Earth as a full season, but it was damned good regardless).  I understand the fourth will be forthcoming shortly (and you had better bloody well finish your uberpost by then :P ).

I'm not much of a Dr. Who fan, but liked Torchwood quite a bit.  But it looks like it was too violent for the BBC, who canceled it.

I'll be interested in your thoughts on Children of Earth. You should devote a post to it.
