Ha! for my club this is the 4th consecutive year we've had our monthly club match fall on Mother's day. at least we managed to avoid the Easter shoot this year.
Yes! Unfortunately, I have an all day Krav class that day. :( Can't win even when it's handed to me... Or did you mean the 13th? (The 12th is a saturday.)
Hrmmmm. 8 hours of Krav, a 8 hour drive, 6 hours of sleep, go shooting... I might be able to pull it off, but then again I might be really sad that I'm not 15 years younger again, too.
How crowded does the range get? Will the "eliminated" have the space and opportunity to shoot some more pins? (Not in the competition, obviously, I did read the rules. :) ) But dang if I wanna drive a thousand miles round trip and only dump one box of ammo... (I have no illusions about my chances my first time out shooting pins.)
Unfortunately it won't take long before someone will figure out that if they shoot extra fast, miss a lot, and have to reload, they can very effectively sandbag without actually shooting slow to run up the time.
I wonder how it would work if you limited each qualifying string to maybe eight shots, and their string time ended either with the last pin or the eighth shot, even if pins were still on the table after eight shots? It might work even better limited to six shots. That would be hard to sandbag.

Have fun!
The competition begins with each shooter running five tables, timed. Worst time is thrown out, the remaining four are averaged. That's your dial-in.
Yeah, nobody's going to sandbag that setup.
Ah, but I'm match director. I can DQ if I think you're sandbagging. Or change the split time. ;)
Dude. You have got to give more than a day's notice for this stuff.
OK. The next one is next month, June 12. Is that enough warning? ;)

Whoops! June 13, you're right. Second Sunday of each month.
