He has been a guest on the Dennis Miller show a couple of times. He also appears fairly regularly on RedEye (late night on Fox). Always insightful and funny - Lord knows we need a laugh now and then. Dry and sarcastic as well - always worth my time to listen.
Unfortunately, I have to point out that, just as I saw when I visited DC this past fall, he was speaking to an empty chamber. These speeches by every rep are not about convincing other lawmakers of anything. They're not even listening! These speeches are simply grandstanding for the public.
Meh....we like to think that a very persuasive speech, with good factual background and historical reference would be effective in flipping some votes. If that were true, Mark would not be who he is, and the Intolerable Act (like Vanderbeogh or hate him, I think he's spot on with the nickname) would not have passed. I saw some genuinely eloquent defenses of freedom on the floor of Congress. The speeches in favor were the usual "for the children" dreck.
It's about power, not ideas. They've all already made up their minds by the time they get there.
Where have you been - oh looking for work and now working.
This guy is great. He appears to be a straight arrow AND he has a wicked sense of humor. Hunt him up in appearances on the Red Eye. I don't think there is another politician who could survive (THRIVE!) as he has in such situations.
He looks like the "real deal" and has significant snark capabilities. Send him and Ann Coulter out after the LIBs!! Heh.. MEDIC!!! snicker...
He should have voted for the Democrat bill instead? It wasn't like 2010 where it was a straight Obamacare up or down vote. One of the Part D bills would have passed. The forced choice between the two is still a no-brainer: The GOP bill was much better then the Dem alternative.
Also, leaving philosophy aside, there is a fiscal and practical difference between targeted entitlements and general entitlements. If this was a Brittocracy, we'd have neither, but that's not the world we live in. It is possible to take some money from everyone and buy seniors prescription drugs with it. It is not possible to take everyone's money, divide it ever so "fair", and still have the same quality of healthcare that you had before the Big Redistribution.
I've always liked him. NRA A rated, Brady ZERO too.

I like this guy!!!
I wish he was my representative - all I got is Patty (give it all away) Murray.

I like him too. I'd like to hear a candidate for governor talking like that around here.
Great speeches. I do like this guy.

BTW, the Real DJ is a sharp guy and I'm sure he woulda posted about it, too.... 8-)
Well, perhaps if I'd found it. Thanks for the complement, and thanks for the find.
He's good. I hope to see more of this kind of thinking at the core of the bloodbath this November.
C&S had a speech by McCotter a while back:

Another good one.

So where were McCotter's glorious speeches when, for example, he was voting in favor of Medicare Part D in 2003?
