THIS is what we need for national office. Is there any doubt that this man loves his country? Does he have to be a heartbeat away from the White House before his wife gets around to feeling pride in her nation?
This is who we need to give our support to instead of a quitter from Alaska.
On the one hand, I get put off a bit by the military metaphors. I know politics is war, but we have good reasons to pretend otherwise.
On the other hand, one of the flaws of democracy is that elected officials have no reason to call out the flaws of their own constituency, and many reasons not to. This can lead to flattering the vices of your supporters. I respect Col. West for not doing that.
This man is right on! Now what do you think the Republican Party would say about him? They'd probably call him a dangerous nut or something. "He sounds too much like Glen Beck" and so on. That's why the Republican Party has to go away, or be taken over by people such as Allen West.
"...I get put off a bit by the military metaphors."
Who says it's a metaphor? Are you saying there's no point, ever, ever, at which you'd take up arms? Doesn't the enemy always win under that circumstance? You know, don't you, that if the socialists are truly voted out, they'll not just accept it and go fuck themselves like good little losers as they should? You are aware of what just happened in Venezuela (where Obama's big buddy now runs the show)? Can't happen here? Oh, yes it can. It can happen anywhere, and probably will.
When Mr. West says this is a fight, he means it's a fight. Do you think the socialist enemy is going to lie down and accept a silly little thing such as a ballot defeat? I ask; Why should they? Who's going to stop them? Do you understand the mind of the socialist jihadi? They fucking hate you. They are right and good and you are wrong and evil. I'm not convinced that they will stand idly and watch you take back your country.
I say that is is a metaphor because we are nowhere close to where it could be the real thing. If you tried launching a revolution today, you would lose with a probability of unity, while getting a lot of good people killed and stimulating the accelerated growth of the domestic-security state. Therefore, it is stupid and immoral to even consider revolution in the short term.
As I have said here many a time.
On the other hand, if you seriously wanted a revolution, you should begin the necessary organization today. In a decade or two, you might be ready. And in the meantime, the best way to build such an organization is to build political infrastructure: GOTV, cultivating financial supporters, grooming leaders, the whole thing.
The great thing about a democracy is that an organization capable of winning a revolution will be so politically successful in the time before it, that the revolution itself will be made unnecessary.
I'm with you. I wonder what Charles would say. He writes that he's not pro-left, but he's sure letting the right have it. To what end? He seems to be trying to drive folks left, rather than to "reclaim" the right. I wonder if reclamation of the right is even possible. We do have a lot of nutters. But then so does the left.

Sigh.
I guess I'll have to open a tavern.
;)
Second that Kevin.
The Commonwealth of Virginia could use some Col. Wests to be sure.

He almost turned me to teh ghey.
I wonder.

Phelps, are you confessing man-love? ;)
I'm confessing to a Near Man-love Experience (an NME).

Lyle,

Makes a heck of a first impression, all righty.
Fred Thompson who?
Impressive as heck, but that little speech (if not not of those before this) just put him on a whole bunch of govt. watch lists.
Anyone who isn't on a list right now is either the greyest of grey men or not in the game. ;)
Oh Hell Yes!
Donate right here, folks!
GOP...here is your candidate for 2012.
Where's he running?
Florida Congressional District 22, from about Jupiter Beach down to Ft. Lauderdamndale.
"...that little speech (if not not of those before this) just put him on a whole bunch of govt. watch lists."
{sarcastic sniffling sounds}
All the more reason to back him.
The gloves have come off (I'll give you a free guess as to who initiated that), and it's FAR passed time for nice-nice.
Quit with the pretense of civility with these monsters. They surely have. It's time to meet them head-on.
They are tyrants. Treat them as such.

That guy is good.
