Seems like she thinks she's laying the case for rebooting the socialized healthcare debate, but this time, they'll use the *good* magic unicorn pixie dust, not that moldy old crap scraped up from under the rug that MA was using.
'Course, those of us who know better understand that she's really laying down the case for why it's a horrible idea.
>>"We have to be careful about how we spend this trillion dollars."
This trillion dollars the .gov ain't got, and which will be stolen from us and our kids
Oh, wait! The very next words, she acknowledges this:
>>"Right now, we are $1.4 trillion in the hole and the Senate has been asked to raise the country's debt ceiling to $12 trillion. "
I wonder what her premiums would be if the feddle gubmint didn't prohibit insurance companies from selling across state lines? It sticks its nose in the tent under the guise of interstate commerce when it literally forbids it from being interstate commerce.
Where he can just slime people and rage, and (almost nobody) will call him out on it. I did last night when he slimed and defamed LabRat (without providing links for people to see what she said, and what he said. Funny thing, the first reply was from a defender who didn't read the whole thread and who disagreed with Mark. (Mark denied that he was using allegory and insisted he was factually correct. As of now, he's not replied himself, I suspect because he'd have to explain to "dick nixon" that in fact, it apparently does "take a genius".)
If he comes in, it'll be to pass off an ad-hom that's as factually incorrect as always, and then he'll bungie out.
In a way, it's promising, that he's learned enough to stop trying to engage us with facts and details, that he'll lose - and so he just does his running in, doing the Phantom Shitter, and running away giggling.
In the span of approximately 30 seconds of reading, I finally figured out what Tinkerballs meant by the whole "Awakened, enraged giant" nonsense...
He swears. A lot.
There is no substance between the expletives, and there is no real accentuation imparted by them, he simply uses the language of a Seaman Apprentice, and thinks that somehow gives weight to his words.
*shrugs* Just a random-assed off-topic observation. I wonder why he doees not use the same language and style here?
“I have just notified the Nobel Peace Prize Committee that upon due consideration, I have decided to decline the great honor they have presented me and therefore will not be going to Oslo in December.
I explained to them, I hope convincingly, that I should have done this yesterday, after the award was announced. But to be honest, I was in a state of shock and not thinking clearly. A President of the United States must be prepared for any news, any time someone walks through the door. But being told that I had won the Nobel Peace Prize was simply not on what the National Security folks call ‘the Threat Board,’ a mere nine months into my term of office. In retrospect, it was a very ‘teachable moment,’ and one I hope to have learned from.
I don’t know the Norwegian words for ‘Let’s get real,’ but I tried earnestly to convey in plain English that awarding me the Nobel Peace Prize, at this stage of my presidency, opens the Committee itself to the charge that it dispenses its gold promiscuously, without regard to actual accomplishment.”
Kudos to Mr. Obama for this. Would that his supporters could see reason so easily.
Unfortunately, GOF, I think that particular editorial was just that - a parodical editorial of what Our Glorious President should have done. The only other place I can find that "news release" is Hot Air, but if you can find some other sources of information concerning Our Glorious President declining the Prize, I will be all over it...
Well it is her fault for not having an enginering mind, or at least any common sense. I would have looked into health care costs, housing costs, commuter costs, etc. etc. etc. before moving out of D.C. to another area. Maybe that extra $325 per month would have made me stay put. Is health care really the problem. Sounds to me like she wasn't properly educated to weight the pro's and con's of a situation and make an educated decision.
I am by no means an expert on health care thing but we can see what deregulation has done to other industries, I am not so sure that that is the answer either.

Have you seen this piece about the doctor in NY who got shut down for providing care too cheaply?
I have now. Thanks.
>>and my employer picks up the rest.
NO. YOU DO. The employer portion sure as hell doesn't come out of profits, it comes out of labor costs, aka wages.
Ah. Geez. Sorry. Didn't mean to shout. Just got excited.
I read the article.

And. She. Still. Doesn't. Get. It.
Fuckin' idiot woman. Gets hit on the head by reality and still thinks "Medicare for All" - RUN BY THE GOVERNMENT - is the answer.
Not shouting, just emphasizing.
Sorry 'bout the echo, Geek. You slid right by me as I was typing.
"How could all of these weeks and months go by and no one is examining and talking about what has worked and what hasn't worked in Massachusetts?"
I would ask where the heck she's been, but...
We have been pointing this out; she simply wasn't listening.
"How could all of these weeks and months go by and no one is examining and talking about what has worked and what hasn't worked in Massachusetts?"
Because we're "idiots" who "hate" and "rage" and want "women to die with coathangers in their uterii" and "children in the street"! and and and...
What's the definition of a law and order conservative?
A Liberal who just got violently mugged.
Betcha she still doesn't laugh at that joke as she rubs her bruises.
Damn. $550/month sounds great. Try $1,514/month.

Actually, you are paying for it all. Your employer pays your insurance bill out of money that you earn - it is like a part of your salary.
Same as a sick day. Same as the "Employer's contribution" to Social Security.
It's all smoke and mirrors, and the majority of the people have been fooled by them for generations.
Yes, I know.
Waiting for Markadelphia's support for socialised/socialist medicine in three...two...

No, he's retreated to his own site.

what deregulation has done to other industries,
Like?
Deregulation is pretty uniformly horrible to any industry it touches.
It helps the CUSTOMERS a lot, since the competition brings the prices down.
But it's awfully hard on cartels.
