There is something ... majestic ... about the firm, meaty shove the .45 delivers, that no other handgun round really has. All others are either too little, or too much of some factor or another.
I had the chance to shoot one of the Ruger .45s a few months back, and was impressed with it, really. It had a surprisingly good trigger, comparing favorably to Sigs.
Yep. Coolest looking pistol ever. When I was eight years old my dad finally let me hold (all by myself) his Army Air Corps .45 Colt 1911. Then, aiming at a line of cans about twenty-five feet away, I "squeezed" the trigger just as he directed. Missed. But man was that cool! Whoopie!!

Whoohoo! QOTD! That always makes my day! Thanks, Kevin!
Excellent QOTD Kevin! I really need to shoot a .45 one of these days. I have a feeling I'd enjoy a Sig P220.

A friend of mine says you aren't a real American [long before Palin even thought of the line] until you own a 1911.
There's nothing quite like shooting .45 ACP through a 1911.
I've invited the lady to go shooting with me, sometime.
