"Too much" regulation wasn't the problem - it was what was being mandated under that regulation along with willful blindness to the probable results of that regulation.
And more "regulation" won't fix it, either, if it's the kind of knee-jerk "regulation" that usually results from Congress covering its ass.
Congress follows two mottos under these conditions: 1) show it's the other party's fault; and, 2) just get it fast, so it looks like we're on top of things, 'cause it don't matter if it's right or not, and we don't know now to get it right anyway.
