Here's a copy of a comment I left on Steve's blog. (Hog On Ice)
UPDATE:
I left the island at about 10:00 am CST, joining Iris & our gracous hosts in Katy, a suburb on the West of Houston.
As of 9:45pm, we still have power, but I'm certain that'll fail with the onset of hurricane force winds. (no loss of power, it turns out)
I'm advised by the City of Galveston that I'll be able to come back to the island on Sunday (pushed back till Monday now), for a limited time for inspection purposes only.
Depending on what I find, I'll let y'all know if I'm just inspecting damage, or executing 7.62x51 looter-interdiction services via PTR-91.
Thank you one and all for your thoughts and prayers.
