Perhaps this makes me "unpatriotic", but frankly, I don't fucking care about the Iraqi people. Iraq didn't have a bloody thing to do with 9/11, and while it's nice and fuzzy for us to have gone and kicked over a dictator, it was really expensive. I'm glad the guys who are over there doing it feel good about it, but we can't afford to be running all over the place doing this sort of thing.
The closing tag: "The day we lose our will to fight is the day we lose our freedom", is bullshit in this context. I have plenty of will to fight, when I've been attacked. Iraq is us going out and deciding to be caped superheroes, fighting bad guys.
What if it's a choice between 75 grams of cyanide in your coffee and 50 grams?
We've not been presented that "choice" - yet. An LD50 dose of oral sodium or potassium cyanide for me would be about 20 grams. (I'm a big guy.) Oddly, both I and the country have survived every single one of the national elections held!
Try another metaphor.

The understanding I have that anything you do as an individual citizen is generally fine (as long as monetary donations are within limits).
Bah.

A vote for wedgie is a vote for freedom.
Given a choice between an occasional wedgie and a continuous enema, I'll choose the wedgie.
What if it's a choice between 75 grams of cyanide in your coffee and 50 grams?
Then the choice is moot. I don't drink coffee.
