"Well, you`re not hip or you're not on the cutting edge."
In computers, "the cutting edge" is also known as "the bleeding edge" for good reason. And the more I pay attention to social issues, the more I'm convinced that principle applies there too.
There's a billboard I've been passing every day lately, that says, "Shop at ___________ and BE somebody."
What the L.A. and NYC folks don't seem able to grasp is that people like me would be insulted by the suggestion that they should define who they are by where they shop.
Yes I know, that *seems* off-topic, but think about it: Is there any difference between that and defining yourself by what *those around you* think is "cool" or "politically correct" or ____________ (insert catchphrase here)? The bottom line is that the prevailing attitude on both coasts seems to be that if you *aren't* one of the Sheeple(tm), you're nobody important.
Personally, if that's the standard, I'll consider being "nobody important" to be a badge of honor.
They're only "obscene profits" when earned by someone who isn't a liberal, or isn't a liberal-supported organization. By "liberal" I mean "Socialist," of course, because after all, true Liberals love the coin of the realm. Heck, earning the coin is really the side-benefit to enterprise, as the doing and creating is the most rewarding part of being a capitalist.
That's what liberals don't understand, after all. Being a leech is far too easy to ever be really satisfying, there's no real challenge to satisfy the soul, and that's why they're always bitter and sad. They do nothing that satisfies the soul and the need to be building and creating, which is what makes man different from all the other beasties on our planet. It's our genetic (some say God given) mandate: to build, create, and prosper. It's only the prosperity we have by building and creating that allows these leeches to survive.
They're also bitter because they recognize that they're peeing in their own cheerios and they aren't willing to do anything, anything that requires effort at least, to change that.
Individuals who can resist the temptation to take a swipe at what they see as the bottom-feeding masses- and/or can resist the temptation to "trade up" the class and culture they were born into for the one their education and social circles now makes them eligible for- seem to be rare.
Which is, perhaps, why they're rich.
Oddly enough, my family on both sides is heavily stacked with individuals who had plenty of higher education, but made a deliberate choice to live somewhere either small-town or utterly rural. Something in that little mini-culture a family develops Does Not Like that particular brand of nonsense, it seems.

*chuckle* Yeah mgt. was always nagging me to install the latest-greatest V-0.8 Beta release. Nope. Don't install new OS/SW and don't buy the first model-year ANYthing.
All that aside, the first question I ask libtards is why Rush listeners call themselves "dittoheads". The usually-wrong answer to that (implied, tho not said outright) in the NYT reveals a lot about aforementioned libtards actual knowledge about Rush.

"Except Obama wants to tax the hell out of them for making obscene profits."
I don't think it's PERSONAL.
Democrats, especially Liberal ones, are like that with EVERYBODY.

This has probably been said before, but...

Happy July 4th! Here's to 200 (at least) more!
