We had out Garand Match today (Sunday), it was fun. I'm more accurate with my AR, but I wouldn't feel at a deficit whatsoever with my '43 Garand - and a bunch of X's at 200-yards is comfort and reassurance wrapped up in wood and steel. :-)
Buy the CD set, makes a fine gift. I am still waiting on the chance to get an M1, but I did the parachuting thing, and have visited Normandy beaches and grave sites.

Buy the CD set just to watch it. I watch mine 2 - 3 times a year. That whole period of our history fascinates me.
You can imagine how this scene makes me feel.
God I want a 25 pounder.
