"However, science and God are perfectly compatible, and that gets missed by most."
This is what a lot of Christians miss as well as the Science Only crowd. They aren't at odds, not in the least. Theories of the beginning of the world may be but not science itself. In fact, our discoveries don't discount God at all but reveal more and more of his creation. Science is the only way to explain the normal mechanisms of our universe and should be encouraged.
Christians or others who fear scientific discovery will negate their god, lack faith and understanding. Science will never prove or disprove a God who isn't bound by those limitations and laws. It logically cannot.
Reminds me of something I've been saying for.... maybe 15 years now:
"Liberal: Someone attentive anough to be concerned about issues, but not attentive enough to actually do the MATH involved with said issues."
Or if you like:
"A combination of a strong opinion and an inability to do simple arithmetic."

You missed the most important part:

Nor will it ever prove or disprove pink unicorns who gallop along rainbows.
You might be seeing a pattern here.
