I'll plan on being there, where ever there ends up being. The Salt Lick would be ideal for a large gathering but might be BBQ overload for you after Wednesday.
It's a bit of a drive to Driftwood, and usually a 1-2 hour wait to be seated at the Salt Lick. Maybe Tex-Mex is the way to go: Chuy's or Baby A's. But it's 50/50 whether I'll be able to come Thurs, so I shouldn't have much input on this.
Sarah, it's probably 2 hours to the SL for me, and we did Chuy's Monday. Mind you, no harm in doing it again... but SL is really one of the places that shouldn't be missed if you like good BBQ. However, when you get down to it, I'm fine with pretty much anywhere. Kevin should probably be the one to drive the decision.
Bear in mind here that I don't know Austin, but a "1-2 hour wait" doesn't seem like a strong recommendation. (Sorry, but no food - in my experience - is that good. (People have been know to wait that long to get a table at The Olive Garden, for example.) And 3-6 people does not really represent what I would call a "large group."
Unless you're talking about the size of some of the individuals in that group....
I checked the map, and I think The Salt Lick is probably a little further out than I really want to travel, especially around rush hour. (Plus, we're having BBQ tonight anyway.)
There's a restaurant right next to the hotel I'm staying in, The Iron Cactus, that's Mexican food. How does that sound to everybody?
Hmm, heard good things about it, never eaten there. Worth a try.
One other possibility, more for amusement value than anything else, would be Dave & Busters. The food's decent if you order carefully and, more importantly, there's a vaguely amusing shooting gallery in the back to provide themed entertainment.
But hey, I'll go where ever the party is.

An option I can recommend is the Boiling Pot on 6th Street.
I've never had to wait 2 hrs for the salt lick, but maybe I've been lucky. I haven't tried the Boiling Pot... any other suggestions or ideas?
