I wonder what the administrative costs are to mail out all these extra unanticipated checks? Whatever it is, it is a number I'm better off not hearing.
Administrative costs: yet another reason why is it better (that the government) not to take the money in the first place (rather than have to "give it back")!
The only consolation for me is: Yes, I definitely will be able to spend the money better than said gov't.
I won't mind if it's classified as "income". That won't affect me much. What will nail us is if it's taken out of the refund which is what some "experts" are saying it will. I count on the refund to pay our property taxes and cover insurance for the year. If I don't get a definitive answer by the time the checks come, it's going into a 1 yr CD.

I still can't get a clear answer as to whether this is an advance on '08 or not. The "experts" are saying one thing then another.
When you find out, let me know.
You'll have to wait till they charge your '08 taxes with "income"...
Actually, it is "giving money to everyone regardless of whether or not they put it in in the first place."

Everyone except for the eeeeeevil RICH!
