A total misappreciation of recent military history.
The Afghans did EXACTLY that against the Soviets...and won.
If you kill the guy who flies the gunship with your "pocket rocket", then you have INDEED defended your home.
But Maxpayne "can't wait to see" that...
...bloodthirsty fucker, huh?
"Voluntary self-castration", (to turn one of their shopworn and threadbare memes back upon them), apparently has a really antisocial effect upon many of their attitudes.
"This is not a denial strategy but rather a recognition that Ghandi, MLK, Christ, Mohammed, Buddha Gautama and millions of others knew/know one thing. We cannot learn what we need to learn when there is violence and fear in our hearts.
It is a personal choice to journey in mindfulness and the journey of a lifetime more amazing than anything that I can possibly write. To me, this is the stage of human evolution we are in - and it is a choice. Weapons into plowshares.

I'm quoted, more or less accurately but in no sensible context, in the Observer article by Paul Harris. He and I talked on the phone for 30 minutes or so, and as is usual with elite media reporters, he did not let the facts get in the way of his story.

"‘Who would have thought a few years ago, we would even be having this conversation? But this won’t stop here,’ said Professor Brian Anse Patrick of the University of Toledo in Ohio. Needless to say, last week the judge sided with Katz and she won the first round of her case.
It is a nation awash with guns, from the suburbs to the inner cities and from the Midwest’s farms to Manhattan’s mansions. Gun-owning groups have been so successful in their cause that it no longer even seems strange to many Americans that Katz should want to go into an English class armed. ‘They have made what was once unthinkable thinkable,’ said Patrick, a liberal academic. He should know. He owns a gun himself. Even the US critics of gun culture are armed..."
Well, here's a golden opportunity for you to provide the correct context
from which those quotes were lifted.
Kevin's blog is read pretty widely among gun owners and 2nd Amendment activists:
"... from the Midwest’s farms to Manhattan’s mansions. "
(Aside from Gracie, I was completely unaware that there were "mansions" in Manhattan. Glad to be set straight about that.).
This is a straw manwe don't know how he feels about having his patriotism questionedand totally irrelevant to the topic.
"Maxpayne" says "And what about all those toy weapons that happily get advertised in those sleazy commercials?" What commercials and what toys is he talking about? I can't remember the last time I saw a toy gun advertised on television.
I find it interesting that "WTF" feels firearms provide security against rural animals but are inneffective against urban animals. I say they're effective against both.
"Turce" does "not understand hunting, murdering these animals," yet the chances are, Turce is not a vegetarian or a vegan. Twit.
Idiots. I believe the professor was merely being astounded by the fact that "gun free" zones are being taken as hunting grounds by the odd crazy person, and it is now potentially necessary to defend oneself against attack in the halls of academia. It is unfortunate. But let's look at the sheer number of firearms in America, versus the amount of crime. Versus the incarceration rates of repeat offenders, the very ones forbidden by law to possess a firearm. Criminals commit crime, crazy people do crazy things. If you don't have means for self defense, you become a victim. If no one has a gun, NO ONE, then the predators use edged weapons, or baseball bats, or 2x4s, or... Let us be pragmatic. It's NOT the gun, it's the holder of the gun. You can be good, or you can be evil, but it's not the tool you use, it's what you do with said tool.
Just tell them that you're taking all those guns to dispose of them "properly." :)

I'm calling my lawyer.
According to these fools, every one of my guns is faulty, because NONE of them has killed anybody, yet that's all they exist to do.
Who should I sue?
The gun manufacturers, of course!

My "one question":
You say you want a gun-free society. How many dead Gracie Watsons are you willing to cede as payment to achieve such a world?
10?
100?
1,000?
All I'm looking for is a number. What's your cutoff point?

Look at the comment from "maxpayne" then look up the video game "Max Payne".
Unintentionally funny, or just incredibly not self aware?
Or a troll?

"When everybody in the world throws their guns into a big pile, I'll be there."
Oooh! I want to be there too!
With a wheelbarrow. ;)
Good idea, KC, but you think too small.

Oh. I hope no one took that I was calling our side idiots. I'm speaking of these moon-bats on the dances-with-unicorns side.
Kevin,
The wheelbarrow is so I can carry more on each trip back to my vehicle.
Hell with a wheelbarrow. Drive up in one of these
That'll do the trick, Kevin.
