The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. ... One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws.
I've always agreed with Ayn Rand on this. But it seems it's true only so long as the government wishes to maintain a facade ( however flimsy ) of legitimacy.
I assume the man who took the moto-tool to the receiver has been convicted of illegally modifying a firearm, or at least criminal damage to property, and the firearm was restored to its original legal form. Right?
I've seen mention of this case before, but I wasn't sure what had happened. A clear, concise summation of an atrocity.
Now I know why it's so outrageous, and why any and all of us are at risk of something similar happening.

The funny thing is that possession of a machine gun sure as heck IS illegal in Washington State. I'm not aware of any exceptions.
Dang it, that was me. Sarah is in town and commented here last. :p
Ben: I think that Kwan was a licensed dealer, not just a "collector." There is an exception for that, as dealers can sell to the .gov.
Re-read the RCW.

The Feds may not get a conviction, but they have destroyed a mans life and bankrupted him.
And they still don't know who shot the US Attorney.
Does this seem fair and just to anyone? Anyone?
Robert - There's a reason why it's so often referred to as the legal system, not the justice system.
justICE system, wow all this time I thought it was the justUS system....

The 2A: "Reset" for a FUBAR USA.gov
Maybe it's time that we see that the government acts at IT'S peril when it makes up tripe like this!
As for the anti-gun AUSA, no loss there!
Thank you.
