I have several gay friends and all of them think that people that march in pride parades are idiots. It really serves no purpose other than to make public what should be one'w own personal business.
I've seen the point made that pride parades give prominence of place to drag queens, leather daddies, and other exemplars of the outrageous side of gay culture because they were the first fighters for gay rights- and the most prominent targets. Before Stonewall gay culture was mostly about finding clandestine ways to get sex; they pushed to make it about being able to live openly without an elaborate tapestry of lies, as ridiculous as they are.
I concede that point at the least. But I still have the Onion headline "Gay Pride Parade sets relations with mainstream America back thirty years" in my head every time I see one.
I think The Onion's headline is spot on. Yes, folks. I am one of Nature's Bachelors (to use a polite term), yet own no leather, prefer not to be around swishy types, and do not now, nor have I ever owned, a VW cabrio with pink triangle stickers on the bumper.
As for the esteemed Mr. Cramer, he seems to find this need to work homosexuality into so much of his commentary. It got to a point I no longer visit his site; it just became annoying with the same old canned clichés. Methinks the laddie doth protest too much.

Y'know, it's a free country...
...and you can be as freaky as you wanna be...
...and it takes all kinds of critters to make Farmer Vincent's fritters...
...but...
...DAMN, people, get a ROOM!
I had some of Farmer Vincent's fritters in the fridge for tomorrow's dinner. You just made me go downstairs and throw them out.
