I prefer the "Joss Whedon is my master now" shirts... though it makes more sense if you saw the comic associated with it.

Okay, the link was easier to find than I anticipated. Is there anything Google can't do?

Yeah, I've got that one, too. But very few people grok it.

Lucas used to be such a rebel. Remember when he quit several Hollywood guilds over the opening credits flap? He sure got mushy-headed in middle age.

But, anyway. The other good thing about having the originals on DVD is that we get to see Sebastian Shaw, the real Anakin, at the end of RotJ -- and Clive Revill as the Emperor in ESB (whom I wish they would've kept for RotJ instead of hammy Ian McDiarmid).

Yup, you're a geek. Then again, so am I.

I got to to see the original SW at the chinese theater in hollyweird. I'll never forget it. I was 9 years old, my family was on vacation. Great times.

Funny thing is, I didn't get it either until I saw Serenity a month and a half ago (and Firefly since then) - I didn't have a TV all through college. It's a geek joke wrapped up in a geek skit. I love it.

OK, I *don't* get the joke...what is it?

Paul:

Read the cartoon.

Joss Whedon is the creator of "Firefly" and the film "Serenity."

I get the bit about Joss Whedon. It is the "Han Shot First" bit that has me wondering how out of it I am.

You either haven't seen the original Star Wars, "A New Hope," or you haven't seen the "director's cut" version. Or both.

Han Solo is introduced in the Cantina scene. As he is attempting to leave the bar, he is stopped by a green alien named Greedo, at gunpoint. They sit at a table in the bar and Greedo tells Han that there's a price on his head. In the original theatrical release, Han surreptitiosly draws his blaster under the table and blows Greedo away - shooting FIRST. In the remake, Greedo shoots first at point-blank range, and misses.

That scene was supposed to pretty much define Solo's character. Lucas fucked it up in the "director's cut."
