I think someone would remember if they gave a guy a medal that isn't real. Of course he COULD put his name on very bit of paper that ever gets in front of him, but I think Kerry is the less credible.
The think to keep in mind about Kerry is that his DD-214 was "upgraded" from dishonorable to honorable during the Carter Administration. He had been stripped of all medals when he got his Dishonorable. Then, during the Reagan Administration he had someone take his upgraded honorable in, and get his medals reinstated.
