Why do the Republicans continue to believe that just because I hate the Democrats that I like them?

Because their world is binary: it's us or them.  They're so entrenched in the two party system and tribal politics that they can't imagine anyone who has an R on their voter's registration card NOT liking them.

The Democrats are pretty much the same way.

"Meet the new boss ... Same as the old boss ...."

That tune ws new in 1971 when The Who released their album.  Sadly, it's as relevant now as ever.

IIRC, that was the tune played at G.W. Bush's campaign headquarters when he defeated John Kerry.

I thought it was remarkably honest of them.

The thing that John Stewart misses is that the Republicans did NOT live up to those promises. There's nothing wrong with reducing the size of the federal government. It is in fact what HAS to be done to lift us out of the recession in my opinion. We need the CFR's cut back substantially. We need the USC's cut back substantially. I want to see one volume cut away in their first year. Go through those books with a knife. Cut out whole sections and streamline the code and regulations.

No, he understands it.  That's why it's funny.  They're using exactly the same lies as before.  He knows as well as we do, that they're not going to (substantially) change a thing, regardless of what they "promise."

I mean, hey, they swear an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution.  I'm willing to bet that most of 'em haven't read it since before achieving office for the first time.

At least the Republicans platform is sound.  I would love to hear a similar Democrat pledge:
"We pledge to continuously spend way above our means,  I mean we can print money so won't ever run out.  We pledge to push every 'social justice' program we can find no matter the cost (see above).  We think the Constitution has run its course and it is time for a new one....Dhimmi style!" ad nauseum..

Democrats are corrupt, Anti-American buffoons.  Republicans are corrupt buffoons but at least have most of the principles correct on paper, if not in action.  Maybe they can align but I have no hope nor want hope for Democrats to align to theirs.  Bunch of Tories pining for the days of the King.  F@#$ them.
