The teleprompter was for addressing the press after his talk with the kids.

Like I said, he can't address TWELVE YEAR-OLDS without a teleprompter? :)

That's still pretty damned pathetic.

The podium and speakers too?  What a douche-chilling picture.

Can't be a rock star without monitors to put your foot up on during the poignant refrain.

Here's another good one (hat tip: Cuffy Meigs at Perfunction). I can't tell whether he's trying to make parody impossible via pre-emptive self-parody, or what.

"Well, the big difference here and in ’94 was you’ve got me."

Would this constitute a special ed class? How to be a douchebag>

What have I been saying for several years now? He's not an orator, nor is he a speaker. He is simply a speech reader.  Without a 'prompter, he is a mumbling, bumbling, stumbling fool. With it, he is a bit more eloquent fool.

jsid-1264520212-764  DJ at Tue, 26 Jan 2010 15:36:52 +0000

From Ken's link:

"[Retiring Democrat rep] Berry recounted meetings with White House officials, reminiscent of some during the Clinton days, where he and others urged them not to force Blue Dogs “off into that swamp” of supporting bills that would be unpopular with voters back home.

""I’ve been doing that with this White House, and they just don’t seem to give it any credibility at all,” Berry said. “They just kept telling us how good it was going to be. The president himself, when that was brought up in one group, said, ‘Well, the big difference here and in ’94 was you’ve got me.’ We’re going to see how much difference that makes now.”"

The reason they are having difficulty "with voters back home" is because they've got him. He is the problem, not the solution.

His chutzpah, his arrogance, and his self-centeredness know no limits.

Yup, that's quite an image.

This comment therein just about sums it up:

"It's been an intense year, I hope he believes in himself as much as we believe in him."

[shudder] Not. [/shudder]

Everything he does is scripted for him by his handlers. Of course, we can't say he's an actor, because actors can actually memorize lines.

I wouldn't be suprised to find out that there's a teleprompter next to his bed that says "Breathe" every two seconds.

jsid-1264829569-79  Markadelphia at Sat, 30 Jan 2010 05:32:49 +0000

I've been waiting for another thread to jump into and this seems like a good one.

"he can't even address a group of twelve year-olds without the TOTUS?"

"Everything he does is scripted for him by his handlers. Of course, we can't say he's an actor, because actors can actually memorize lines."

That's one hour and seven minutes. No teleprompter and quite gutsy, I must say, to stand there and take shit for that long.Yep, pretty much an arrogant asshole.

Make sure that you watch it all. I'll be checking back from time to time to see if past assertions regarding admission of fault and error hold true. If not, well...then we'll know that what I've been saying all along regarding your collective ideology is valid.

jsid-1264982220-495  Adam at Sun, 31 Jan 2010 23:57:00 +0000

Mark can now no longer even be bothered to type up new posts. He just duplicates them across threads.

However, he clearly realizes that we would have no expectation of him really returning to an old thread since he had to post it here and on the latest post by Kevin.

So, that's kind of cute, isn't it? He acknowledges and understands that his credibility is complete shit (and has to understand it's deservedly so - he has to "remind" us there's a possibility he posted on an older topic), yet brazenly expects everyone else to "own up" on their opinions regarding his guy's speech-giving.

I'm curious how that "collective ideology" is supposed to work. My name isn't anywhere in this thread, and yet I know I'm included in that alleged collective. Neither is Unix Jedi, the other person he regularly accuses of being part of a collective mentality and walking in step with Rush.

How about this, Mark? I've seen it. I still think he's shit at giving a speech, and I still think his views are abominable. Now, is your intention to deal with the topic here at hand - that Obama brought in a heap of shit, logos, and a teleprompter to talk to a small group of children - or are you trying to make a point?

jsid-1265122931-635  DJ at Tue, 02 Feb 2010 15:02:11 +0000

"His chutzpah, his arrogance, and his self-centeredness know no limits."

That's what I wrote and that's what I meant, liar boy. He uses the word "I" in his speeches so much that even the MSM comments on it.

That's Standard Response #1.

jsid-1265213954-868  DJ at Wed, 03 Feb 2010 16:19:15 +0000

"Alright, DJ, explain to me how he was arrogant when he took the time to directly confront House Republicans (sans teleprompter) and debate the facts."

Taking "the time to directly confront House Republicans (sans teleprompter) and debate the facts" wasn't arrogant at all. Indeed, it was a commendable thing to do, and I have not suggested otherwise.

Doing so without a teleprompter is hardly surpising, as he had no choice; the meeting was not scripted, thus there was no speech to be made, and so a teleprompter in that case would have been as useful as tits on a boar hog. And, also commendably, he spoke relatively well without it, much better than he usually does. I suggest you take note that the acronym TOTUS (Teleprompter of the United States) is now a standing joke, even in the MSM, even among his supporters. He has a long way to go to counter that, if such is his intention.

Your response, though, was, yet again, your Standard Response #6, in which you deliberately miss the point and lay on yet another straw man.  Same old shit, different day.

The subject is thus the arrogance of President Obamateur. I'll look the word up for you:

arrogance

n.
The state or quality of being arrogant; overbearing pride.

arrogant

adj.
1. Having or displaying a sense of overbearing self-worth or self-importance.
2. Marked by or arising from a feeling or assumption of one's superiority toward others.

Now, what would give rise to a claim by me that he is arrogant? Three things come to mind: 1) in his speeches and his responses, his overwhelming use of the word "I", suggesting an "overbearing self-worth or self-importance", i.e. it's all about him; 2) his repeated lying; and, 3) his treating us all as if we were all idiots.

His overwhelming use of the word "I" is well documented, even in the MSM.

His lying is the worst part.  A lie is a statement that the person who makes the statement knows is not true when he makes it. Politics is the art of the lie, and the lie is the primary tool of a lawyer. Obamateur is both a lawyer and a politician; for him, as it was with both the Clintons, lying is a way of life.

But modern times have turned this favorite tool of politicians into a failure. Now, damned nearly everything a politician says in public, particularly so with the President, is recorded and made available on the internet. Also, gazillions of primary-source documents are available at everyone's fingertips. This makes possible nearly real-time analysis of the truth of statements by politicians. Best yet, all this is available to and from the whole gamut of the political spectrum. Self-contradiction and lies get exposed, and damned quickly.

Politicians still lie, but they haven't realized that they can't get away with it scot-free anymore. The difficulty is that they have no replacement for the lie except the truth, but that requires being honest, and they can't do it.

No, I'm not going to cough up evidence of his lying. We've been doing that here for two years, and you evince no understanding of it. You are a proven liar; your dishonesty won't let you.

Finally, here's just one example of his treating us all as if we were idiots:

"We simply cannot continue to spend as if deficits don’t have consequences. As if waste doesn’t matter. As if the hard earned tax dollars of the American people can be treated like Monopoly money."

He said this after the record deficit of his first year in office, and then his proposed budget would raise the deficit even higher. Do you like being treated like a sheeple?

Yup, he is one arrogant sumbitch.

jsid-1265410852-465  Markadelphia at Fri, 05 Feb 2010 23:00:52 +0000

DJ, it's clear that you don't like him. Fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. No matter what he says or does (even if it is something you approve of) will be met by your vitriol, hatred, and intolerance. I have to say that I would probably like President Bush personally if I ever met him. He loves baseball, his favorite team is the Cardinals, he's funny, and he seems like a nice guy. It's his actions that I have a problem with, not him personally. Cheney, on the other hand, is not a nice person and I don't think I would like him personally.

What you have written here is an opinion...President Obama is arrogant. You have sadly attempted to somehow make it a "fact" but at the end of the day that's all it is...opinion.

jsid-1265422823-112  DJ at Sat, 06 Feb 2010 02:20:23 +0000

"What you have written here is an opinion...President Obama is arrogant."

No shit, teacher boy. What gave you the first clue?

I have expressed my opinion that Obamateur is one arrogant sumbitch. I have shown, as many others hear have shown over many months, that my opinion is solidly supported by a host of demonstrable facts. The opinion results from the facts, and that's why it is my opinion.

"DJ, it's clear that you don't like him."

It's clear that you adore him, and that your adoration of him blinds you to the effect of his actions. I don't suffer from that mental defect.
