I'm not surprised. Gold in India has never lost its place of permanence since ancient times - and precious stones too. The Nizam of Hyderabad weighed himself yearly in gold poured onto a balance-scale, him on one side and gold collected in taxes (and jewels) on the other - and he was NOT a skinny guy. It is believed that the entire collection of Pearls in the Nizam's collective collection could fill up an Olympic size swimming pool. Out in the countryside you still see women wearing their own personal wealth on their person: solid gold bangles, necklaces and rings. Among the "scheduled tribes" the necklaces are frequently made of lumps of gold, pieces of which can be removed for financial emergencies or whatnot.
So anyhow, I'm not surprised.

"How's that stimulus workin' out for us, again?"

Near as I can see, it's working exactly as planned.

It's always benefitted the Marxist/Progressive that normal people have had a very hard time grasping just how nasty they are, and what horrible things they're capable of doing.

It is a mistake to think that they want the country to flourish, and that they just have the wrong ideas of how to achieve that.

As has been said many times; there are two kinds of leftists-- the perpetrators and the duped.
