Hmmm... is there anything preventing me from say, setting up insurance companies in Canada that only insure Americans? See, we'll bypass all the bullshit, the USA couldn't regulate it, and it wouldn't involve the Canadian health care system at all.

So we set up an insurance company up there that sells insurance to Americans, and that can "discriminate" against those with poor health, and we won't be forced to sell to folks after the fact. What's to stop someone from doing that? After all, no law saying you can't send money to someone in Canada. Further still no laws saying they can't send money back. Or are there?

Ben:

AFAIK, and IANAL, and OMA (one more acronym): yep, tis illegal.

Every state (again, AFAIK) regulates anything looking like insurance. Those extra warranties at places like Circuit City and Best Buy? They're not allowed, and it's hammered into them, they're not allowed to call that "insurance" in most states.

Kevin:
The State had no electricity.
The State had no money.
Almost everyone spoke Spanish.

Also consider, 100 years ago, Texas, Southern California and Mexico were essentially indistinguishable.

But within 30 years, and within 50, there was no chance of confusion.

And one to this day looks almost like all 3 in the, at best, 1920s.

It's confusing, since nothing would explain that when you presume that every economic system is identical, none better, or worse.....

I've heard there is a movement afoot in Kalifornica to change the official name of the state from "The Golden State" to "The Granola State" because of all the flakes, fruits, and nuts found there.

Any truth to the rumor?
The great unwashed clinging to our religion and guns want to know.
