Better late than never, I suppose, but I still don't have any sympathy for him.

A bedrock principle of communication is "write (or speak) to your audience," meaning one delivers a message on the audience's terms, not the writer's. Zumbo was oriented to the 40s-through-60s old school hunting crowd, very few of whom use, or are remotely familiar with, EBRs, and none of whom see anything outside their narrow tunnel of firearms usage.

We simply don't have the luxury of educating these morons one at a time, and that includes the editorial staffs of Outdoor Life, Field and Stream, et al. Zumbo's latest screed professes an understanding of what 2A is for, and if that understanding starts percolating through the hunting and O/U shotgun crowd, then Zumbo will have earned, if not a prominent place in history, at least a congenial footnote.

Good. He managed the apology. Lets see if he follows through on ammends.

I've been following things over on Ted Nugent's forums. Zumbo reported in from an Outdoors show he was at this past weekend. In addition to his seminar, he's apparently had a lot of folks come up to his booth to show their support that he's turned from Fudd to Full-power 2A Fighters.

He's got a long row to hoe, but he's working on it.

This IS good to hear. If he continues to realize the true purpose of the 2A, he will have regained respect. And he will expand the understanding among those who never really thought about the whole thing. Truly, think about it. How many people out there just never really gave the matter any thought? O remember back in about 1965, I asked my father to order me, oh I forget what it was exactly, from a comic book advertisement. He said that it would still be there when I got old enough to order for myself. Can anyone say "GCA 68"? Awareness must be renewed! This was a good thing.
