In a TV interview (WDSU Ch. 6) night before last, "NO PD" chief Warren Reilly refused to acknowledge Louisiana state law authorizing licensed, concealed carry of firearms by citizens in N.O. When pressed by the interviewer, he would never admit that such concealed carry was legal and justified his position, claiming that a citizen's possession of a firearm might embolden the citizen to do something he/she ought not to do. There is, BTW, no notable record of such incidents since inactment of the concealed carry law in Louisiana. NOPD officers regularly do what they ought not to do with virtual impunity (just talked to a guy arrested for "talking too much"). Criminals in N.O. do what they want to do with virtual impunity. The only people who are doing what they should do to protect themselves and their neighbors are those availing themselves of their individual 2nd Amendment rights. BTW, when I last checked (and admittedly it's been several years ago), Louisiana's self-defense law did not exempt unlawful aggressors wearing badges, unlike most states. Maybe that's what Reilly is really worried about, though I doubt he knows the law that well. Hopefully, he and his idiot bosses will be gone after the April elections.

Nagin, Reilly, the whole dirty lot of then need to do hard Federal time for this. I'm being charitable when I say this; I really think they should be hung.

Oh I do so hope Nagin and Reilly made their "We didn't take any guns" statements under oath.

KCSteve: Oh I do so hope Nagin and Reilly made their "We didn't take any guns" statements under oath.

They did.

Go to the SAF website

http://www.saf.org/

and look for the paperwork posted in PDF format. The SAF is very good about posting court documents. The NRA has had a strange habit of restricting access. See my post for further on the NRA:

http://standardmischief.com/2005/11/27/the-nras-sooper-seekrit-super-secret-new-orleans-judgment/

anyway, the words you seek are here (PDF):

http://www.saf.org/new.orleans.lawsuit/consent.order.pdf

Start reading on the second page, the bastards deny everything, under oath. Can you say perjury?

I can say it. The question is: "Will they be charged with it"?

I hope Patricia Konie gets her gun back. I hope Nagin, Reilly, and anyone else involved in this tyranny get what's coming to them. And I really hope that the ape who slammed Patricia Konie to the ground gets to do hard time. But I don't count on any of that.
