This is confusing and is contrary to the doco.
"The current version of the sanitizer only checks the poisoned filenames
list if the filename extension appears in the MANGLE_EXTENSIONS list.
Filenames whose extensions do not appear in the MANGLE_EXTENSIONS list
cannot be poisoned. This will change in the next major version of the
sanitizer. "
