This has previously been reported as a way to reproduce the error. It
isn't the only way (several spamassassin users have reported the bug on
the spamassassin-talk mailing list, and they don't have failing filters
involved), but it's the most reliable way.
I have reason to believe that this is fixed in the 3.23pre snapshot from
last November, but I haven't ever received clear confirmation of that.
