[Esa-l] Mangled extentions

I'm new to the list, so this may have already been answered.  

I just did a diff between 1.111 and 1.115.  In a couple of places,
MANGLED_EXTENTIONS has been been replaced with a hard-coded subset of
that variable.  What is the reasoning behind this?
