I stand corrected.

For that scenario (http/CGI get with options), you should not need to diff
the result file.  

The resulting file would have been exactly what the requestor requested
anyway -- providing that the results are intact, and no errors occurred.  
Error detection/correction should probably be part of the "get" process
anyway.  So...

Yep.  Nod.  Uh-huh.
